Large Rat Taxidermy Workshop

This workshop is a step up from our mouse sessions and perfect if you want to try something a little bigger, more detailed, and seriously satisfying.

You’ll be guided through mounting a large rat, using traditional soft-mount taxidermy techniques in a relaxed, supportive setting. All specimens are ethically sourced and fully pre-prepared, so no skinning is required on the day. This makes the workshop accessible whether it’s your first time or you’ve done one of our mouse workshops before.

We’ll cover:
• Preparing and handling a pre-tanned skin
• Sculpting and fitting the body
• Attaching limbs, head and tail
• Setting facial features and expression
• Positioning and finishing your rat

By the end of the session, you’ll take home your own completed large rat mount.

This workshop is hands-on, practical, and focused on learning by doing , no rushing, no pressure, and plenty of guidance throughout.

• All materials and tools are provided
• Specimens are pre-prepared (no skinning)
• Suitable for beginners and improvers
• Expect a slightly longer session than our mouse workshops
• Some basic dexterity required
